We’re in planning stages here trying to come up with the best way to re-introduce the ol’ establishment.  Toyed with changing it to Oscars Bayside Tavern.  Being we’re moving the tavern to a warm climate.  There’s already an Oscars’ Tavern in Philadelphia. I get their email!  Maybe you have some ideas.  I’m designing and registering a logo. So Oscars Tavern could become a problem.  We’ll see.  I could do “Taverne”, using olde English type spelling.  Most of our patrons think that “oldey” type stuff is stupid.  Like “Towne Square”. 

We still plan on talking about what’s going on with the folks here, focusing on all the silly stuff in life.  Still Have our crew take turns posting,  bring in some guest posts.   Thinking of weekly posts, rather than daily. We just don’t have a lot of time lately.  So in the meantime…

Yes, we used to be there. Now we’re here.  Same ol’ place. Some of the characters.  Decided we needed a hiatus, or a “high anus” as our Lovely Charlene jokingly would say.   Kitchen is still being rebuilt.  Just a gin mill right now.

We’ve been busy.  Yeah…I know, who hasn’t in some form. we’ve had a few requests here and haven’t gotten to it.  I’m going to re-do this place a bit. Change some chairs around.   All temporary stuff for now.

Yup, I’ve been here a bit. Hired a few bartenders to cover for me while I was away at the other place. Some of the regulars say the place needs me here so I’m gonna try to tend a bit.

Well I have the kids up from Florida now so it’s busy. The place here is slow, so I can jot a few notes.

The lovely and talented Charlene was down in the Sunshine state with family. She’s back now. We agreed we’re ready to step up once in a while to share some of the Tavern’s goings on.

Miss Killian is a new bartender. She’s a pretty one. We call her Miss Killian, though she was officially engaged this Christmas Eve. In this place you own your monicker forever. Congratulations to our new “Irish Red”.

There are some new regulars, along with some of the old ones. Different times, different place. You’ll catch on quick enough!

This post was done on my iPad. haven’t figured out pasting pictures. Maybe our friend Meleah can help us out.

It’s been a while since I posted. Spending more time here.

Not a whole lot going on.   Everyone here is good.  Just business as unusual as I’ve said before.

Still trying to decide whether to sell the place.  The energy just isn’t here anymore.  I’m hardly here lately and Charlene is busy with other adventures.  Skeleton crew.   Willy is gone.   Just not the same. Closed the kitchen.  We have a deal with the pizza joint that moved in next door.  We have tier menu here and we have a door between the place.

I’m doing ok.  Still running around like a chicken without a head.  But what else is new.  Lisa ran away with Vinnie. We knew that would happen. She took our little buddy Eric. And NO he’s not my son, as some suggested. I just like the lil guy.

Still love pie. 

BP is up. Kills my habit a touch.   Comes with age I guess.

Thinking hard about selling the license to that group who wants to put a Red Robin in down the road….

Hey!   How are ya!   Pull up a stool and relax.   Nice weather we’ve been having here in the NorthEast.  Saturday through today have been Spring-like. 

Charlene has Shrimp Fra-diavolo for you today!  The drink special is Coors Light!    What can I get you?

Man we have a taste O’ spring going on here.  Best enjoy it!  Not sure how long it will last. Hopefully we will be done with snow, but my gut tells me we’ll have one more snow.  Hope I’m wrong.   As you know I’m a fan of warm weather.  I enjoy the outdoors.  We all need to rid our cabin fever.

St. Patricks Day is coming up!  Charlene and i are planning the day’s festivities.  Obviously we will have the traditional green beer, and corned beef.  Lisa, the true irishman will make up some soda bread.  Funny we wait for one day to have all this delicious food.  Guess it wouldn’t be special then would it?  Like having Turkey often would take away from Thanksgiving.   It will be a fun day anyway.  We all become Irish.  I’m a quarter Irish.  Hmmm, I was just wondering if everyone thinks of themselves as Italians on Columbus day?! 

I’m excited, I just booked my tickets to go to Florida the end of this month.  A pleasure trip for once. Will visit my daughter and family for Easter and see Willy. I can’t wait!  Definately a warmer climate!

Four high school boys afflicted with spring fever skipped morning classes. After lunch they reported to the teacher that they had a flat tire.

Much to their relief she smiled and said, “Well, you missed a test today so take seats apart from one another and take out a piece of paper.”

Welcome!   How are you?

Back at the Tavern, the ol’ grindstone again.   Special today is Pizza!   Your choice of toppings.  We’ll wash it down with a Belgian brew… Budweiser!

 While I was in Puerto Rico last week, I must have caught or brought down with me some cold bug, that just grew Thursday through the weekend.  I had to leave PR early to avoid cancellations that um… DIDN’T HAPPEN.  Ok, it was touch and go for a bit.  So I lost a day and a half of planned work.   On top of that I come home from the tropical air to SNOW storms and cold.    I take my cold to cold.  The mathmetician in me says the two can zero out. But it looks like they were squared.  I should have stayed there risking being stuck in Sun and 85 degree weather.  Such sacrifices I should have taken, but alas..

OK, I was really sick…all weekend on antibiotics now.  But feeling work-worthy.  Charlene’s at the helm so we’re assured a good day.

I caught some of the olympics this weekend. Love that Women’s curling.  I watched the Canadians versus the Swiss.  Enjoyed the serving, launching, whatever it is stylings of Cheryl Bernard.  She was quite talented. She is the captain of the team. Oh and the game is pretty interesting too.  Never really gave it a chance before.  I’d love to try it.  That and snowboarding. I’ve skied before.

Charlene and I Ping Pong-ed between the USA vs Canada Hockey game for the Gold, and NASCAR.   Exciting game.  Unfortunately the USA lost. But it was a good match.  It was odd because I knew players from both sides.   Our NASCAR hero, Mark Martin, came in 4th.   Damned Jimmy Johnson!

Welcome my friends!

I’m in Puerto Rico today. It’s nice. 80 degrees sunny.  Thats what I see when I look out the window. One of these days a non business trip is in order.

Well I understand things are well up North at the ol’ Tavern. The Queen of the Tavern, the lovely Charlene is keeping the troops in line up there.  Not sure what the special of the day is, but again it IS tasty Tuesday.

Monday I attended a webcast called Suburban Wow.  It was our friend Weaselmomma and Suburban Scrawl.  I didn’t find out about it until that day.  I was in my office and thought – I could put it on while I work.  So I did.  It was fun. Unfortunately I had people come to my office and had to mute it, so I missed a lot of it. But it was neat!  Thanks Girls!

Charlene said there were a couple rowdy folks in last night.  They must have been drunker than hell!

Gotta run!   Have a great day – and stop the snow!!!  I need to stay through Friday – I don’t want to have to leave early because of snow.

Welcome to a rare Saturday post from Oscar’s Tavern!

It’s a nice day here in the North East.  The sun is shining.  It’s very bright with all the snow. Put your singlasses on today.  (HA, I wrote sin glasses… Typo, would they be for people who see bad?…doh!)  Keep the sun from your eyes. Not heaththy I tell ya! 

Nobody is here yet.  Charlene was out last night. I was gonna meet up with her to hear a friends band at another local bar.  I got tied up and couldn’t make it. She went.  Not expecting her here early.  LOL Hope she had a good time.

It’s funny how when you are alone in a familiar place, it takes on a different feeling. A Tavern in the day looks a lot different than it does at night. So I’m just sitting here with a cup of coffee looking around.  Leo and Lisa did a great job cleaning up last night. I don’t have to do anything.  I’m guessing we weren’t that busy. 

Ever look at a ray of sun shining in the window and see all the dust particles swirling around in it?  Scary huh?  I feel like if I take a deep breath I’ll make a wollen top coat in my lungs.  

You also notice the sound of your appliances turning on and off. The refrigerator, freezers, air handlers, and clocks.  I have a nice wall clock that chimes on the quarter hour.  We rarely hear it.  This morning its like a brass band.  LOL    Ever notice at night how many pilot lights there are?  Everything today has has a little led light on it now.  LOL 

Did anyone get my Emily Littela joke at Conditionally Satisfactory?  Am I that old, or expect too much?

How are you today?  Man it’s still cold here.  I hate winter!

Today we have hot open faced roast beef sandwiches for ya.  We’ll wash ‘em down with Coors Light!  That should bring a regular in!

Did I mention it’s still cold. OK, you midwesterners and colder states can give me raspberries.  But maybe you are just used to zero as we aren’t.  Like Floridians being cold when its 60.   All in all, there is some work I want to do on my truck and It’s too damned cold to work outside. I have a garage, but its full of stuff. 

Willy called yesterday, says he will be up visiting soon.  That will be fun. We haven’t seen him in a while.  Go figure, I’m planning to go to Florida near the end of March.

Chip brought in a Mr and Mrs Potato head for us.  He says we can reflect our moods with it.  Boy is he in for a surprise!   Let’s see, we’ve have them in hardhats, doctors garb, and today they are nude.   Hmmmm.  I’m freightened for what they’ll be doing tomorrow!  We decided to create our own… parts for fun.  Like little beer mugs, shot glasses, “undies”… We’re truly defective here.

Why was Mr Potato Head jealous of Michael Jackson?     He had more noses!

Well I am planning another “benchmarking” trip to PR next week.  Seems it’s once a month lately. Who’s coming?!

It’s been hard for me to keep up posting lately – sorry.  I think a lot of us have just been busy.  I may need to delegate again. if you’d like to “guest Post” let us know!

Happy Monday to all of you!   Hope you’re not hurtin’ puppies from the Super Bowl party!  We were here late last night. We’re still cleaning up all the confetti and stuff from the event. Brought in a few bucks.  Charlene is happy, she made some cash from the game. 

Today’s specials are the King of Beers, Budweiser and Pulled pork barbeque sandwiches with corn bread and baked beans!   Nice follow up! Charlene!!!!

So did you watch the big game?   Being a Giants fan, I wasn’t all concerned about the outcome, I wanted the Colts to win.  I like Peyton Manning.  But hey, the Saints got a trophy, they never had one so, nicey nice.  They earned it.  

Some of the ladies that were here were more interested in the commercials. Nothing really stood out. Guess there’s only so much you can do.

Got a call from Willy.  He sends his love.  LOL    He was able to get tickets for the game. Said it was a lot of fun. There are a lot of activities outside the game that he enjoyed too.

Oscar is out sick again, old fart.  LOL   I’m Eric.  He has a cold. Hmmm comes back from Puerto Rico and is sick… yeah righhht.

Well there’s a lot going on today.  Charlene is decorating the bar for the SuperBowl party on Sunday.  We like when she’s on that ladder.  Leo stares at her butt and makes yummy sounds.  Mom says he’d better watch out, she’d smack him!  LOL

Todays special is a California Cheeseburger, fresh pickle slice and a cold Budweiser. I’ll have a Pepsi ’cause I’m too young to drink. Thats why I put the pepsi picture on top. neat huh?  It has the girl and a drink.  Just like Oscar does.  See I can be a Bartender!

Well look at that!!!!  OH! like Metropolis!!  Polis  Indians!   Nice!!  So a lot of people in Oscars Tavern would be oscaropolis?  So are there lots of small people in Minneapolis? Or is it a town of Minnie Mouse fans?

Two guys are talking about their boss’s upcoming wedding. One dude says, “It’s ridiculous, he’s rich, but he’s 95 years old, and she’s just 24! What kind of a wedding is that?”

The other says, “Well, we have a name for it in my family.”

Yes, it is truly another day in paradise.  Well here anyway.  I’m in Puerto Rico “benchmarking” again.  Actually I leave today.  I’ve been busy!   For todays special’s we have Medalla beer, and go to Terri’s house for eats!!

I took a walk on the beach this morning.  Grumbling about heading back to mid-20′s weather.  I must be crazy!

Charlene told me the other day the roads in New Jersey were like an ice rink.  She said it took het 2 hours to get to the Tavern. 

And its still January…..

Life has been busy. 

I have to figure out ways to better do things and manage my time. With Willy gone, I have morethings to attend to. Yes, he’s decided to stay in Florida. We knew it was coming and he deserves it.  Hey so we have another place to hang out now at Willy’s Compound, so it’s been aptly named. Good for him.

Meanwhile its been stressful. Charlene is somewhat preoccupied, Lisa can only do so much as she has to tend to lil Eric. Leo has taken a full time job at a non charitable organization. Vinnie is in and out. Thus my lack of posting. Sorry folks. Even Belinda asked today, Oscar, you don’t post OT anymore?

No we’re here all week, try the veal.

Just very busy. And damn if it isn’t always the same thing. When I’m not writing a post I have a ton of thoughts. When I sit and start this ……>poof<

I have to carry a note pad, or use my fancy a$$ed phone to jog my memory of these ideas.
