We can’t find Willy.   Charlene checked his house.  No sign of him or the Missus.  We’re getting upset.  Have any of you out seen or heard from him?  If you do, let us know. It’s not the same around here….

Hoo boy we’re all bummed out. I haven’t seen him since October 28th! Charlene and Leo said he was last here when the girls took over the Tavern….Hmmm.

Well Charlene and I aren’t in the mood for food today. So stop over at Sally’s cafe down the block before you come by.  All draft beers are a buck fifty today. So come on down and knock a couple down with Charlene and me.

My birthday was on Halloween. (yeah go ahead)  Charlene got me this card that shows a shot of booze on the cover. You open it and it says,” Cake is for Wussies”.    Gotta love her.

A guy walks into a bar with a dog. He claims the dog can talk. “Give me a beer and I’ll show you.” The bartender slides a beer to him and the man asks the dog, “Fido, what is that above our heads?” The dog says, “Roof!” The irritated bartender says, “That’s not talking, he sounds like any other dog.” The man says, “OK, how about this – Fido, who was the best baseball player of all time?” The dog says, “Ruth!” The bartender throws the man and the dog out of the bar. Fido says to the man, “Ya think I shouldda said DiMaggio?”

A guy walks into a bar. The bartender says, “Do you want to play a game? See those two rib-eyes nailed to the ceiling? You get to throw one dart. If you hit one, you get to take them home and I’ll give you a free drink.” The man says, “No thanks, the steaks are too high.”

Hey its one of our favorite part time bartenders birthday today. Go wish her Happy Birthday!

Today is a sad sad sad day for The Girl.   I had to watch Oscar’s team take the WS last night, and now I’m in the bar with my tail between my legs drinking away my sorrows.  

I now owe Oscar a dinner at the location of his choice.   And no honey, I don’t want to go to Hooters or Delilah’s Den.  And I promise I will mace any homeless people that come near you after dark.

Since my spirits are down and my team lost, we are having comfort food for lunch today !!!  Big ole greasy cheeseburgers with bacon and ranch dressing, curly cheese fries, and some Miller Lite to wash it down.  Anyone with the guts to wear a Phillies jersey in the establishment today will receive a free shot of Jack Daniels to help numb the pain of the broken heart.

I hope Oscar is enjoying his victory down there is sunny Florida.  I walked to work this morning with my teeth chattering.  I got an email from him earlier this week bragging about his tan.  I may have to beat him up a little after he returns and decides to get back to reality with the rest of us pee-ons of the working world.

Sorry I don’t have anything naughty for you.  I had Phillies pasties made and I special ordered a g-string for our victory party, but unfortunately I will not be able to wear them until next year.   But for your viewing pleasure I have included the painted on Jersey.  It will probably be the last Phillies item you see in the tavern for quite a while.

I thought I would pop back in this morning to let you know the lucky winner of our Lingerie Beauty Contest……………..

So this morning, I’m back in the bar trying to clean up all of our mess.   There are glittery sparkles everywhere.   I was thinking (after having 8 beers) that it would be cool to have ticker tape and glitter shower all over the winner.  Oh what was I thinking Oscar is going to ring my neck  (Yikes).   Anyone know how to get sparkles out of the fabric of the barstools ???   Not to mention the feathers from the girl’s boa’s.    It’s impossible.

We are expecting our esteemed proprietor back over the weekend.   Maybe I’ll have some of the girls stop by and visit him.  He’ll be so blinded by their beauty maybe he’ll be willing to overlook the sparkles, or not.  I guess it all depends on how grumpy he is.   I got an email from him stating that it was raining on his vacation, that’s enough to make anyone grumpy.

Today’s specials – mmmmmmmm, Sloppy Joe’s and Miller Lite.   No better comfort food that a hot plate of slop !!!!!

Well we’re almost packed up. Will finish tomorrow.  Looks like we will be driving through Hurricane Danny.  Hopefully the bridges and roads won’t be closed or flooded.  But I guess day 1 will be messy. But usually after a storm, the weather is usually good. Waves will be choppy. This is why we rent a beach house with a pool, hot tub, and pool table…  oh did I also mention bar?   Like last year, I don’t tend bar there. My guests do.  LOL   Hey, does a butcher go on vacation to trim up a side o’ beef?

Drink Specials today are Miller Genuine Draft, and Miller Lite!    Chili dogs are on the menu today. Lisa is running the show. Charlene is home packing her bags, (and hopefully that new bikini we’ve heard about)

I went on vacation last week. What a week it was. Only rained twice – once for three days, once for four.

A vacationer was complaining to his landlady about his room. ‘Look. This wall’s so thin you can almost see through it.’
‘That’s not a wall,’ she replied, ‘it’s the window.

A man and his wife were driving their Recreational Vehicle across the country and were nearing a town spelled Kissimee. They noted the strange spelling and tried to figure how to pronounce it – KISS-a-me; kis-A-me; kis-a-ME. They grew more perplexed as they drove into the town.

Since they were hungry, they pulled into a place to get something to eat. At the counter, the man said to the waitress:

“My wife and I can’t seem to be able to figure out how to pronounce this place. Will you tell me where we are and say it very slowly so that I can understand.”

The waitress looked at him and said: “Buuurrrgerrr Kiiiinnnng.”

Welcome To Oscar’s Tavern!

Nice day here in the NorthEast!  We’ve done “Pretty OK”  as an old buddy of mine used to say, this week. I’m hoping the weekend will be good as my ol pal Flapjack Steve is coming to visit.  Charlene just ran out to see her grandmother.  She hurt her hip recently.  She’s ok, just needs some things done for her.  We discussed the menu.  It’s a Wing-Ding!   Your choice of hot and spicy barbeque or Teriyaki wings!  Some fresh cornbread and coleslaw!  MMmmm  I’m licking my fingers talking about it!   She also recommended a new discovery of hers.   Jim Beam’s new “Red Stag“.  It’s Jim with Black Cherry!  A lot of folks have been adding flavors to booze lately.  I’m not a big fan of it, but hey, its always fun to try new stuff!  eh?

 Found THIS on one of my favorite blogs today…  Yikes!   Something about how ladies have fun…   (click on the poop)  What’s the world coming to!   LOL 

 And this is….cute.  (sound up)

 A woman and a baby come into the doctor’s office.
She is taken into an examining room and waits for the doctor.

After arriving there, the doctor examines the baby, and finds him not gaining much weight and asks the woman, “Is he breast fed or on the bottle?”

“Oh…he is breast fed!”, replied the woman.
“Well then, strip down to your waist,” orders the doctor.
She takes off her top and bra and sits on the examing table.
The doc starts pressing, kneading and pinching both breasts for quite a while in a very detailed and thorough examination.
The doc motions to her to get dressed, then the doctor says -
“No wonder this baby is so hungry. You don’t have any milk!”
The woman with a wry grin on her face responds…”Well of course I don’t.”
“I’m his aunt – but I’m SURE GLAD I brought him in!”

Boy we are silly here today aren’t we!

Welcome to Oscar’s Tavern!

How are you today?

Charlene and I were chatting earlier today and I asked her what today’s special was.  She thought for a minute, had Italian hot dogs in mind. She asked me if we had them recently, I replied yes.  So she then comes up with a California Cheeseburger, fries and a Pina Colada.  I replied, “That sounds good”, lets go get one. So we’re gonna let Lisa cook YOUR burgers today. The Queen and I are going out for lunch!   I asked her where a good place to get these California Cheeseburgers would be. She replies,

 ”Key West“. 

 ”Ok, I’ll have the tickets ready at EWR” (Newark Airport)

“I thought we’d drive…”

“ok, your truck or mine?”

“I thought we’d rent a Mustang Convertable”

 This is why she’s the Queen o’ The tavern.  She knows me too well.   So off we go, heading down 95.  Fueled up, top down, country music playing on the stereo, matching hats.  Yee haw!

Well sad to say its too far for us to drive to for lunch.  But it was a fun idea.  We will go to a non-disclosed place and enjoy each others company in an outdoor setting though. Best I can do for today.  My buddy Chip called shortly after and I share the conversation. He’s getting Jet freighters out of the local Air Force base, to load up the Mustang…..  LOL

 Meanwhile……

   Fresh from my shower, I stand in front of the mirror complaining to 
   my husband that my breasts are too small.

  Instead of characteristically telling me it’s not so, he 
  uncharacteristically comes up with a suggestion.  “If you want your
  breasts to grow, then every day take a piece of toilet paper and rub it
  between them for a few seconds”.

  Willing to try anything, I fetch a piece of toilet paper and stand
  in front of the mirror, rubbing it between my breasts.
      
  “How long will this take?”* I asked.
  “They will grow larger over a period of years,”* my husband replies.
   I stopped.
  “Do you really think rubbing a piece of toilet paper between my 
  breasts every day will make my breasts larger over the years?”
      
  Without missing a beat he says, “Worked for your butt, didn’t it?”*
  He’s still alive, and with a great deal of therapy, he may even walk
  again, although he will probably continue to take his meals through a
  straw.

2 or 3 or 4 hours later….

Well Charlene and I had a real nice time together away from the “shop” and enjoying each others company. Talked about life in general, laughed, and shared some thoughts about our individual relationship worlds.  Found out we still love each other and will still let them cut out our hearts for each other.  In other words – we’re perfect for each other, but somehow it don’t work.  LOL   Thanks Charlene. I Love you!

 Thats our lunch – thats her Pina Colada (one of them) and my Bass Ale(s).  Nice outdoor place we have mentioned here on the blog.

I understand Lisa has things under control – Thanks Sweetie!

Well that’s enough.  Wonder if Charlene would be interested in drinks tomorrow…..

Not that I’m aware of. Who would break in and not take anything, much less leave their “panties” behind.

    Oscar’s Tavern

How are you today?  Well it’s a Monday. back to the old grind as they say.  Not a whole lot going on today. Just the regular crowd shuffling in and out. Some new faces, but mostly our usual crowd.  I see Meleah is out and around, that’s good. She’s been a regular for a while now. She’s sitting right over there.

Todays Specials: Well i didn’t get to Charlene yet so why don’t we do Reuben Sandwiches and cole slaw. I’m sure she can fix ‘em up for us. I know we have the fixin’s in the fridge. And the drink of the day is Michelob Ultra!  Less carbs they say!

An uneventful weekend for me. Just hung around the Oscar residence. Came in here a couple times to see what’s shakin’.  Watched a couple of episodes of Law and Order last night. Didn’t watch the big Hollywood event at all.  Although I do like it’s name.  LOL   I just can’t get into all of the glitz around that stuff. Ok, I’m not a big movie buff. Saw maybe 2 movies at the theater this year. Can’t even remember what they were.  Guess they had a lot of impact huh?  My DVD collection is 5 movies. 3 are Christmas movies. Anyway, movies i watch are mostly via on – demand or on HBO or something.  I don’t go out of my way to watch any of them. I may start a movie and it will draw me in. I rented Hancock the other night because I like Will Smith and the trailer with hi tossing a rude kid into the sky made me laugh. It was ok. Not as fun as I thought it would be. As usual, the trailers usually show the best parts of the picture. So what’s left?  OK, some of you may be upset with me but if Heath Ledger didn’t die, he wouldn’t have been mentioned for an Oscar. Right?  There are lots of great characters in action films that get ignored because the usual boring standard actors like Meryl Streep are in a film. It’s a popularity contest judged by those who have no connection with the public.  Ok, off my rant. That’s why I don’t watch.

"Not all films did as well as Juno obviously. The films that were made about the Iraq war, let’s face it, did not do as well. But I’m telling you, if we stay the course and keep these movies in the theatres we can turn this around. I don’t care if it takes 100 years. How are you today!  I’m Oscar. With us today is the Lovely Charlene, our old friend Willy and our buddy Vinnie.  It’s Lisa’s turn to take time off. 

Charlene says Todays special was inspired by a song she heard on the radio.  Pina Coladas and Chicken Tenders basket with fries, with Mango and coconut salsa.   MMM, that sounds delicious!   What can I get you?

A dear friend came into the tavern yesterday to say hi. We chatted for a bit. Besides lifes conflicts, she says she’s been just relaxing at night, watching old movies and drinking wine. Says it makes the old movies more interesting.   She recommends Yellowtail Reserve Shiraz.   She said she was influenced by the TV show “The New Adventures of Old Christine“.  LOL  I ‘ve seen that show. Its funny.  It was cute hearing her share this story and my mental movie screen saw her bundled up on a sofa with her dog, sipping wine and the glow of the TV reflected in her eyes.       She’s a cutie.

Gotta see if she’ll let me join her one day. Look at these old classics in a new perspective…

Hi everyone!  Come on in! Pull up a stool and enjoy a draft and some food!  We have a full staff today! The Queen of the Tavern, the lovely Charlene is here after her much needed time off!  She’s looking great as always. She’s got a real treat for us today. Hot Open face steak sandwiches with peppers and onions! And a side o’ fries!  Damn I’m hungry just saying it!   And lets wash it down with a draft beer. Today, domestics are a buck, Imports are 2 bucks. Huh? Where can you get a deal like that!   

So I decided to give Charlene a much needed vacation for no damned reason at all. She works hard here. She is truly the Queen of the Tavern. She does a lot of stuff behind the scenes here that give this place it’s class. So here’s top our pretty blond partner!    Cheers Sweetie!  (she’s giving me those, “you’re friggin’ nuts eyes…oooh!  LOL)   We couldn’t do all of this without ya! 

I decided to do the same after my Florida trip was cancelled. A family member got ill who was coming along. I couldn’t let her stay here alone so i sent the rest of the group and stayed here for support. So kept a low profile like Charlene. Did some soul searching, relaxing and other things I’ve been putting off.  I knew the crew here could handle the place. Kudos to Lisa and Willy. Thanks guys!  You take a week whenever you please!  (did i just hear the door slam?) 

The juke box is working. I understand it was broken. Whatever. I’m listening to Warren Zevon’s “Excitable Boy” album on it.  Before the crowd comes in and selects others. A good collection of songs.  One of my favorites “Werewolves of London” is on it. That’s a fun song. Dig it out and listen again. Or come here, we’ll put it on!

St. Lucie man accused of stuffing Natural Ice beer down pants

FORT PIERCE — A man accused of stuffing a $2.01 Natural Ice beer in his pants Sunday at a truck stop was arrested after failing to pay for the frothy beverage, according to an arrest affidavit released Monday.

A manager and a maintenance employee at the Pilot truck stop Sunday afternoon reportedly watched Richard L. Basnight, 44, select a large Natural Ice beer from the cooler.

He put the beer in his pants and headed to shower 7, where he claimed to be bathing. The manager opened the shower door, and the manager and maintenance worker questioned Basnight about the beer.

Basnight, of the 3300 block of Southwest Hosanah Lane, ran but was tackled and the manager “recovered the beer from the inside of Basnight’s pants.”

Basnight was taken to jail on a retail theft charge.

How are you today?  yaaahhhhaaawwwnnnnnnn!   Ooh, sorry, I was up late last night. I had some company…       

Well our cute lil chef Charlene has a belly warmer for ya today!  Hot Open Faced Meatloaf and Mashed Potatoes with warm brown gravy…   MMMMMMM MMMMMMMM  MM !  Lets rinse that down with a nice Merlot today.  Or perhaps a beer for you Mid-Westerners.

Well Courtney was in the tavern yesterday. She’s a nice girl. We chatted a bit. She was talking about wine that can be bought at Target.  Well in these parts, you can’t buy wine or beer in department stores, or any other stores except liquor stores.  You can buy warm beer in some food markets. But if you’re looking for a six pack on a Sunday night, well you’re out of luck. Best stock up. Or, heh heh, we’re open till at least 1 every night.  Or we’re supposed to be. But if there’s no one after midnight. We shut ‘er down. What are the rules where you live?

Well there isn’t as much hype as usual for the big game this weekend.  Funny how territorial it can be. I’m sure they’re whooping it up in Arizona and Pittsburg.  Should be an interesting game.  We’re gonna show it on all screens. Maybe we can have Charlene and Lisa wear cheerleader outfits. 

(What, no? but… No I can’t wear…  guys don’t…  ok.. yeah,   oh yes you’re right….   ur the boss.)

So, we’re gonna have lots of um, finger food ( I can’t spell hor’s d’oeuvres) (I know I have a PC…  I’ll google it…  )   um.. hor’s d’oeuvres (yes there’s an “e” in it… I don’t know its French LOL  oui oui.  yeah poo pooh!  LOL  Hey stop that you’ll get wine all over me!!!    LOL  will you stop!!!)

How are you today. Thought I’d come in on this Saturday to just say hi to our regulars.  I have a guest mixologist here today, Weaselmomma.  Click on her to see a tasty shot drink she prepares, and the proper way of enjoying it!  She’s popular here at Oscar’s.

I have been so busy getting things done around here. Plus my daughter was up from Florida. She enjoys hanging around the bar. Willy has to re-stock the Merlot every time she visits.

I’ve been in a good mood lately due to someone special. Thats all I’ll say now.  I’m sure one of the folks here will blab soon enough.  Leo said the last time he saw a grin on my face like that, he was engulfed with a methane cloud moments after.   Wise-a$$.

It got to 55 degrees here yesterday. (yeah terri I know)  But its dropping down low again.  I took the dried up wreath off the neon sign outside with just a short sleeve shirt.

Hi!  Welcome to Oscar’s Tavern!  How are you today?  Guess all of us are cold except Mike. Football crowd today, so I’m just tending and watching the football games.

Charlene isn’t in on Sundays so I put together a combo for you. Kielbasa and pierogies.  It’s pretty good! Try some!   All domestic drafts are a buck today.

Remember Sally?  Yes, her and Vinnie have become quite the couple now. She’s back working in retail. She’s lucky. Vinnie has changed a bit. Think he showers a bit more. LOL  What love does to you.  They were in here earlier before the game. Making all cutsie eyes at each other. Willy says “get a room”.  I’m happy for them.

Charlene is a happy camper. Her man has been giving her some special attention.  She says, “one day at a time”. 

Willy is a happy guy. He may seem a tad grouchy once in a while, but he’s a great guy. His wife and him are a nice couple. They’re here watching the game.

I’m hoping for the Cardinals and Pittsburg. You?
